Our legal advice and products affect our clients, as well as other organisations that work with those clients. Indirectly, they also affect their customers, clients and employees, society, governments and the environment.
For a global law firm, taking these marketplace and client impacts seriously is essential but complex. In consistent client focus and deep market knowledge, we look more closely at these impacts and the roles our lawyers need to play in the marketplace.
An employer
The way we run our firm has an impact on our own people, and also on the wider communities in which we work.
As a global employer working in a demanding sector, we need to be mindful of our role in creating a motivating work environment where all our people can flourish and for setting the highest standards of working conditions. "Globally minded and committed people" looks at how we do that, examining what we do to assist our people in balancing client demands with other commitments, in getting access to development opportunities and in giving and receiving constructive and open feedback.
Because of our size, we hope that what we do internally can also be an example to others in the wider marketplace, helping to raise standards across the board. As a result, we’re an active member of many employers' networks, looking particularly at areas like diversity and thought leadership.
An enterprise
With 26 offices around the world, we obviously have an impact on the environment and the communities close to our offices – both through our own actions and through our suppliers and purchasing. "Responsible operations" looks at how we manage the day-to-day running of our firm responsibly, and how we minimise these wider social and environmental impacts.
